I used to do Yoga in a very beautiful place. It was small but everything was very familiar and cozy.
Every single day, they would have homemade chai tea, ready for everyone to just grab a cup and take some on the way home.
I loved it so much that I asked for the recipe and became obsessed with it! I started making big pots of it all the time, so all my family and friends could enjoy it too… pushy chai tea lover, I know.
I not only loved the tea itself, but also the amazing smell it leaves all over the house!

Chai Tea is cherished in India to preserve health and increase peace of mind. Among the benefits, it improves digestion, enhances the immune system, increases energy, opens the respiratory system, fights inflammation, helps to recover from colds and has antioxidant properties. Though the ingredients of chai tea act synergistically to increase each other’s benefits, the separate components have powerful benefits on their own.

My favorite recipe:

– 1.5 liters of boiling water

– ¼ tablespoon of clove (Whole)

– ½ tablespoon of whole black pepper

– ½ tablespoon whole cardamom (open them a bit so they will release the flavor)

– 3 cinnamon sticks

– ½ cup of ginger slices (Ideal would be fresh. Get a ginger root, peel it and take some

small pieces)

– 1 tea bag (red tea, pu-erh, black tea…)

– Optional: Soy / almond / oatmeal milk & honey

Once the water has boiled, add all the spices and let it boil for another 30-40 minutes.

Turn it off and leave the tea bag inside for 3-5 minutes, then take it out.

The chai tea is ready! You can add soymilk and honey for a sweeter taste.

Enjoy!
